Family Heritage

For decades, my paternal grandmother has been chipping away at my family’s history. At this point, she has traced my ancestors as far back as the 17th century. During this process, my grandma has collected relevant photos and timelines and compiled them into multiple, 600+ page binders. This is my own take on my family’s heritage. The book builds off of her work but also includes new information, new additions to the family, a more complete maternal section, and my own botanical illustrations.

For this book, I wanted to find a way to incorporate my own personality, so I illustrated the leaves below. Each family member has their own leaf. Autumnal leaves represent someone who has passed away, while green ones represent the living. Below are some of my favorites.
